How to download all Flash videos in Ubuntu without any third-party tool?

With Ubuntu, you don't have to install any third-party tool or Firefox add-on to download Flash video in YouTube, DailyMontion, etc. Flash video files are cached in /tmp folder, just go to /tmp folder, grab your video files when the caching is finished, copy them to another folder and rename it to .flv extension. Very easy, bravo Ubuntu! :)

Anh đang dùng vlc để xem Flash Video. Nhưng hình như chỉ cần cài gói ffmpeg là chương trình nào cũng xem được hết.
PS: Anh đang chuyển blog sang tiếng Anh để "chường mặt" lên Digg :)

FYI: You don't need to change the extension of the file to .flv. Just crab this file to your folder. And you got it :) so cool

Well, this doesn't work in Efty either. I don't know what version you were using, but it doesn't seem to work for anyone else. Cheers,

Cool it works... i've got 7.10 - de Gutsy Gibbon

But one question.. Totum still sees the file as a streaming file, though it is not using internet for it at all. The problem is that i can't skip forward. Anyone an idea how to solve that?

What software are you using to watch Flash Video (*.flv file). I tried Totem and can seek.

Ok maybe I read it wrong. Long day - half in a coma.

I'm using Ubuntu Hardy 8.10 64bit. I navigated to the /tmp directory as suggested to find nothing there. However, I can right click on a flash video, left click properties, which then brings up a window headed with the web address and it shows a variety of urls.

I simply select the one ending with .flv and click the "Save Media As" and I then have a copy of the flash file saved, which opens in Totem perfectly.

Hi, the idea is not bad. But what happen if the flash video is too long? We have to wait too much time.

The flash video will show up in the /tmp directory once you let the entire flash clip play in your browser to the end.
